Microsoft Dynamics CRM is the current name for Microsoft Business Solutions CRM. The other Microsoft ERP products that were renamed too are Microsoft Great Plains into Microsoft Dynamics GP, Microsoft Axapta into Microsoft Dynamics AX, Microsoft Navision into Microsoft Dynamics NAV, and Microsoft Solomon into Microsoft Dynamics SL. Here we are suggesting our reconsidering review of Microsoft Dynamics CRM integration & customization tools.
If you are trying to customize Microsoft CRM then simply read the directions in this blog. This blog is quite beneficial for software developer, web designer or database administrator who is asked for customization.
Microsoft CRM SDK– This is software development tool with C# and partly VB.net code. It is supported by Microsoft Business Solutions technical support. It is totally based on web service calls; if you are a C# .NET developer then you are outstandingly placed to do this type of changes. This is the best modification setup and this should be easily upgradeable customization.
Inheritance SQL Data incorporation- This is also simple and safe. If you have any SQL database, having the same or linked SQL Server then you can form ASPX .Net application and just integrate it into CRM. You can hang it on the navigation bar or menu in isv.config. Just refer to MS CRM SDK for further customization.
Legacy ASP incorporation– This is somehow more complicated. You have to set up HTTP handler to be a middle man between CRM that is .Net based and ASP that is legacy IIS. The trick is you have to have INI file with security settings to enter into MS CRM with proper authorizations, calling web service.
Microsoft Exchange Programming- Microsoft CRM has exchange tool that moves CRM incoming mail to MS if it has GUID in its connectivity. You can alter this method for instance – move email to CRM if it doesn’t have GUID but it is from the sender who is exchange or account in MS CRM. Refer to MS Exchange SDK on sync save event conduct. Then simply use some MS CRM SDK programming that you require some COM+ objects creation and VB programming involvement.
Direct SQL touch – In the above point described the scenario with MS Exchange handlers. Now, this would be ideal if MS CRM SDK does the job. But in real scenario this is not always correct you have to do direct flags improvement in CRM database like moving email attachments/octet streams, making Activity closed etc. This is not maintained by technical support but you can rescue to this technique by contacting Microsoft technical support if you have to get job done.
Microsoft CRM Customization Kit- This is somewhat end-user kit and describing it here is quite complex as it is totally practical. We’ve described above the steps to use when this tool doesn’t do the job.
Crystal Reports– Feel open to create Crystal report like views structure and tables is self-explanatory. Try to evade the temptation to form your own SQL view or stored method in MS CRM database, in place of it form custom database and place your view and stored procedure in it.
